Monday 17th July - Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington - sunny periods.

Foil - 19.77 knot max, 18.3 knot ave, 9.7 knot hour, 1.15 knot mile, 47.55 km., 14.32 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Stom 6.5m.

Was tempted by a session at The Manor on the foil but with no one about and the breeze wsw slightly offshore I decided to head to Levington for the third day running with Mag deciding to take the bus to Trimley then walk to the last 3 miles to the marina for lunch:) I left Felixstowe just before nine in lovely sunshine stopping in a couple of places to get some wheat field pics to send to the TV weather. There was loads of water when I arrived with the wind gusting 17 mph so I rigged my new Tushingham Storm 6.5m, good looking well made sail! WSW is not the best direction here as it is particularly gusty but when I first went out I could have used 5.5 but that good wind was fairly short lived as it eased down. I had some gybe fun on the corner in the best wind and am loving the new sail but it probably needed some moe downhaul? Robert, Michael and Andy came out to play later but the wind continued to be up and down. I beat up river past the marina but the wind was probably worse so returned to the corner, I had one good run down to Felixstowe docks flying all the way but you did have to wait for a gust to get going but nice being out in the sunshine, with some amazing clouds appearing which is why the wind was so unstable! Getting hungary I decided to call it a day and returned to the van where Mag had arrived and was reading her book:) Out of the wetsuit we enjoyed a top roll she had brought befoe I packed up and headed to the shower. Looks like a light wind week ahead but its been full-on over the last three days using a 4m, 4.75 and a 6.5 today sailing in total 93.50 miles, not bad fo a pensioner:)
